Scalp Micropigmentation – an alternative to non-surgical hair transplants (hair systems)
The non-surgical hair replacement procedure is for a thin layer of polyurethane to be positioned onto the scalp and formed to fit the head exactly. This membrane is then implanted with human hair that closely matches your natural hair. Finally, the membrane is bonded to the scalp with an adhesive that is both sweat and water resistant. This hair replacement system needs to be removed, cleaned and reattached every 4 weeks.
The disadvantages of non-surgical hair transplants and hair systems
Poor styling – If a hair system is poorly styled, it will be immediately obvious to others, and this is one of the worst traits of a hair system. Unfortunately, hair systems are often bulky and do not look like natural hair.
Expensive – Hair systems are an expensive form of hair replacement. Synthetic versions are slightly cheaper than real hair, but do not have the same quality. In addition, accessories and maintenance products are required, adding further expense.
Discomfort – Everyone reacts differently to hair systems. Some people experience irritation or a rash without a hair net underneath and others feel uncomfortable after wearing a hair system for a long period of time. Hair systems also retain the heat from your scalp, so hot weather can cause additional discomfort. Unfortunately, there isn’t anything you can do with a hair system until you can take it off.
Failure – Anyone with a hair system will tell you that their worst nightmare is that it falls off in public. If this happens, it can severely affect your confidence.
Fear of detection – Another fear that many wearers of hair systems have is that someone can tell that their hair is artificial. The density of hair required to cover the netting underneath needs to be quite thick. This can be obvious, especially on someone over 40 who would naturally have hair that is thinning.
Scalp Micropigmentation – an alternative to hair replacement
If you’re looking for a non-surgical hair transplant alternative, why not consider scalp micropigmentation (SMP). In a process similar to tattooing, thousands of tiny pigment deposits are placed in the upper dermis of the scalp, replicating the look of a full shaved head.
Instead of having balding or thinning hair, you will have a groomed look that suggests you have shaved your head by choice.
The advantages of SMP
Scalp micropigmentation is virtually undetectable, affordable and long-lasting. Unlike a non-surgical hair transplant, SMP is considered semi-permanent and can last up to 6 years before needing another treatment. In this time, you can continue your life as normal with no further issues or expense.
